Stockholm, whose name comes from the Swedish word Stock = the tree trunk and Holm = small island, is the capital of Sweden and with 2,1 million inhabitants the largest city of Scandinavia, as well as seat of the Swedish parliament and the government.
In addition to state and political guests, several million tourists visit the Swedish capital annually. Nearly 200 hotels and accommodation companies are located in the metropolitan area of Stockholm and offer overnight accommodation in all star categories. Due to the numerous small islands on which Stockholm is spread, tourists are particularly popular with hotels with a view of the water, many of which are found in Stockholm. The most central part of the night is the Stockholm Imperial Diet and the castle.
Stockholm offers its guests numerous cultural and architectural highlights. It is worth visiting the old town and the VASA museum. But also parks such as Djurgarden, the Abba Museum and the Drottingnholm Palace are popular with tourists and locals alike.
A special experience is offered by one of the many canal tours through Stockholm. On board modern ships, guests can explore all the hotspots of the city from the water, learn about culture, people and history, relax with food and drink, and relax for a few hours.
